Espresso on Orchard: Whynot Coffee
We just found the perfect downtown oasis to escape the noise and bustle of Manhattan’s Lower East Side. It’s called Whynot Coffee, and it’s a welcoming and unpretentious spot that offers a calming ambience, superb service, and yes, delicious joe.
The 70-seat bistro serves coffee from Brooklyn specialty provider, Toby’s Estate. Whynot uses the Toby’s Flatiron blend for their excellent espressos, and their drip coffee uses Toby’s Estate’s Brooklyn blend. If you’re in the mood for a quick bite, Whynot offers a wide variety of pastries, cakes, croissants and egg dishes, all made from scratch with original recipes. To top it all off, the walls are adorned with impressive art by local NYC artists like Jeremy Penn. (Read the ONS Manual profile of Jeremy Penn here.)
Enough with the words, the only thing left to do is try Whynot’s special brew for yourself. Where else can you get a cup of expertly brewed java complete with tasty treats and visually stimulating art? Remember to keep checking the Manual for our new city finds!
