Everything You Need to Know about Layering this Fall

You’ve seen the meme: “I can’t wait for fall so I can really start dressing.” But this fall, dressing well and layering up is no joke, offering you the chance to put your best fit forward while also insulating yourself from the cold. Fall’s also a season where the weather is subject to change at a moment’s notice, going from cool, cold mornings to sunny afternoons, which means you need to be ready for, well, anything, anytime. That’s where layering comes in. To help you along, O.N.S has gathered three of our best layered looks, all with a nod towards different styles for different kinds of dressers. Read on and see how you can layer up for fall 2019.
Innovate
This one’s for the adventurous dresser who likes to innovate. Here, we’ve layered our stately O.N.S Marco Overcoat atop our Tripp Denim Trucker Jacket, to create an unexpected outerwear combo that leaves plenty of room for changing temps. Underneath, we’ve added our plush, supple Mason Mock Neck Sweater and a pair of Denim Houstons, carefully chosen to contrast just a bit with that Tripp Denim Trucker Jacket to create a hint of visual texture.
Activate
Activewear’s not just for the gym anymore, coming in an array of sophisticated cuts and styles that work as well in a creative meeting as they do on the basketball court. And we make some of the best, like our Rover Hoodie and Apollo Sweatpants combo, which we’ve layered over our Fulton Oxford Shirt to create a sporty look that belies more than a bit of sophistication upon closer examination. With a Reversible Bax Bomber and Timbuk2 Catapult Sling to round things out, this outfit balances athleticism with elegance to create an easy-wearing fall outfit with plenty of layers for any weather.
Consolidate
Whatever your go-to style, it’s always good to pay homage to the classics, dipping into history to create a wardrobe that will please your buddies, boss, and grandmother in equal measures. Consolidate those classics like we have here, layering our Felix Coat and Perry Blazer over our Striped Breton Crew and Modern Chino to build an outfit that looks as good in 2019 as it would have in 1959. Some things never go out of style and this outfit proves it.
