The Feel-Good Factor (Know Your Textures)
Right now, menswear is having a moment where it’s all about creating contrast. Most guys tend to use color or pattern for contrast—consider the impact of red socks with your otherwise blue suit, or your plaid-patterned pants under a grey topcoat. However, it’s our belief that contrast can be a bit more subtle, and that’s through the use of textures. One of the reasons why mixing formal and informal clothes can create such pleasing contrasts is the mix of textures it involves. Here, we show our 8 favorite pieces that’ll bring an extra textural touch to your wardrobe.

Starting with outerwear, on the left, we have the wool-blend Gordon Coat with a funnel-neck collar detail. On the right is the Hooded Parker Jacket. It’s 100% Polyester and water resistant with hidden zipper/button placket detail.

On the left, the extra cozy merino wool chunky sweater with marled lines of blacks, grays, and whites. To the right, the oatmeal colored cashmere-wool crewneck sweater with lightly textured collar detail.

On the left, our sleek-but-not-so-skinny slate-blue chino, with brush cord fabric and 5-pocket detail. To the right, our twill-weave cotton Bedford Chino with slant pocket details.

On the left, our dark-navy button-down shirt with corduroy fabric and spread-collar details. On the right, Our brushed-cotton button-down with a plaid pattern and button-down collar details.
Now that you have a few starter points, it’s time to go out and flex your sartorial textural knowledge like a real pro!
