Entertaining At Home: The Game Day
Viva Los Deportes!
We’re well into the fall season and the world of sports is in full throttle. The World Series was spectacular, the NFL season is rumbling along, the NBA season just kicked off, college football is heating up and the premier soccer leagues all over Europe continue to provide thrills and upsets every weekend.
Most diehard sports fans have their own unique rituals for hosting “game day.” But regardless of your specific routine, it’s always important to have the right drinks on hand to keep the good times flowing. There are a couple of different ways you can go with this.
(1) You could do the “basic bro” thing and buy a case of cheap stateside brews.
(2) You could do the “Brooklyn bearded hipster” thing and serve growlers of your own backyard-brewed ale.
(3) Or you could even go the “broke college student” route and tell your guests to bring their own booze.
We’re offering a worthy 4th option in the form of a novelty, gin-infused Shandy. Here are the ingredients and instructions for making one below:
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Fords Gin,
0.75 oz IPA or Cider, if preferred
4 oz Fever Tree Ginger Beer
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Lime Wedge, for garnish
First Step: Add Fords Gin to a beer glass filled with ice.
Next, pour in your IPA/Cider beer and top up with ginger beer.
Add 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters.
Finish it off with a quick lime squeeze and a lime wedge.
Give it a gentle stir and enjoy!
